Kibworth Cosmopolitans celebrate competing in its first season in the friendly Market Harborough Rounders League after forming as a new team in spring earlier this year. Based at Birds Barn Kibworth, the Cosmopolitans train every Tuesday evening with matches at the home ground or in Market Harborough.

On Sunday 24 September the Great Bowden Recital Trust Orchestra rounds off a series of Sunday afternoon short concerts in St. Peters, Church Langton. A spot of informal music making by local amateurs can be enjoyed along with refreshments. The Harborough Singers will make a rare appearance at St. Wilfrid’s Church, Kibworth on Saturday 4 November. One of the leading Midlands chamber choirs, the group last performed in Kibworth almost exactly thirteen years ago… Wait, 13? Isn’t that supposed to be unlucky?

Kibworth Tennis Club has taken steps to ensure their defibrillator is accessible to the local community.

The summer months have been busy for our WI, Beginning in June with a fascinating talk by Alison Emery,'Walking the Camino de Santiago'. A pilgrimage which finishes at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in the northwest of Spain.

On Friday 9 June we had our annual charity golf day at Kibworth Golf Club. This year we supported our local air ambulance. 19 teams of four competed, with a shot gun start at 1pm. We were lucky with the weather. Even if the golf wasn't inspiring for some, they enjoyed a walk and friendly chat! All the teams gathered for a buffet meal afterwards. Prizes were handed out to the more skilful and competitive teams.

The Spinners are looking forward to a summer break from coaching, and will restart at 6.45pm to 8.15pm on Monday 31 July and continue weekly on Mondays 7, 14 and 21August as well as Monday 4 September.

This is the time when social media is full of ‘six week shred challenges’ or ‘get bikini ready with our three week challenge’ etc.

Kibworth and District u3a orchestrates interest groups and social events for people that are no longer in full-time work.

I am delighted to say that our latest Quizaret was a huge success and the Grammar School Hall was filled to capacity. We had 14 teams of six or seven. Did that give some an unfair advantage with an extra brain ‘on board’?  Of course not, this was an LMT Quiz, full of quirk, fun and unknown quantities!
