Open Hands is a Leicester based charity, part of the Trinity Live Church located in Upper Tichborne Street, Highfields, (off London Road). Since the Covid-19 crisis was recognised as a pandemic and the effect, detrimentally affecting the welfare of many families, Open Hands, through contact with individuals and families, has a network to hand of the people in need of basic provisions. However, this only works through voluntary contributions.

Tai Chi classes began at Fleckney Sports Centre 16/06/20.

Throughout lockdown Kibworth Rangers have met weekly on Zoom and continued to complete badges and challenges. We have had lots of fun and have enjoyed getting to see each other. 

As many of you are aware, the Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital is a village based charity, now in its 36th year. It takes in around 5000 sick, injured or orphaned animal cases every year, with the aim of returning these back to the wild when fit and well. 

At this point of the summer we would normally be in the busy point of our season but as we all know, this is anything but normal. We are hopeful that some sort of Cricket will take place in Fleckney in 2020. We await guidance from the Leicestershire and Rutland League along with updates from the ECB as to what that looks like.

It seems very odd to say that I’m much busier now than before the lockdown, but it’s very definitely the case.

Districts across the country, like HDC, have been given funding to help businesses open on 15 June. Changes are being made in Market Harborough, Lutterworth, Kibworth Beauchamp and Fleckney. Here in Kibworth Beauchamp, temporary changes are being implemented from Monday 15 June. On High Street, the parking bay will be used to ensure 2m social distancing from other shoppers when walking along between Smeeton Road and the disabled space, which will remain.

People fortunate enough to have gardens or even views over open space, have found some relief from lockdown in nature. Whether entirely at home or on daily exercise people have:

A quorate council of 4 parish councillors last met in person, with social distancing, in late March, just as lockdown commenced, in order to delegate full authority to the clerk while the council was unable to meet in person, as advised by the National Association of Local Councils.

The parish council has held virtual Zoom meetings at 7pm on the first Thursdays in April, May and June. All were quorate despite members having to use the new technology. The agendas were published online and in the parish notice boards, together with details of how the public could participate.
