



Kevin Messenger, John Allen, Scott Pilkington and Neil Hammond have completed numerous challenges for charity in the past. This year their new found love of golf sees them doing it again! They are going to play 72 holes in one day at Kibworth Golf Club on Friday 2 July to raise money for Prostate Cancer.

As April showers have extended into the summer months, the re-opening of The Well Café and Shop has been as varied as the weather! People have gradually braved it out again to try our freshly baked cakes. They have also enjoyed the influx of second-hand clothing, and to reacquaint themselves with our ‘Warm, Well Welcome.’

Rotarians and members Graham Thompson and John Addison are planning a fundraising challenge in memory of past members Nick Lacey and Rod Mitchell, who sadly passed away within 24 hours of each other at Loros Hospice last October.
They propose to play golf for 12 hours on Thursday 27th May, starting at 8am, 12pm and 4pm, to raise funds for the hospice, which has lost a huge amount of income during the lockdown due to cancellation of fundraising events.

Sadly the pandemic has had a catastrophic effect for many people, including many readers of the Kibworth Chronicle; loss of jobs and loss of income, loss of family members and friends. It all seems hopeless. And yet, it is being seen by many as a wakeup call and a vital opportunity for us. There is still time to change how we live, for a safer and fairer society and to stop further pandemics.
