Did you know that Unblocktober is a national campaign and awareness month to improve the health of the UK’s drains, sewers and rivers and how we can all help prevent blockages? Sadly last year, Anglian Water had to remove over 3,000 tonnes of wipes, sanitary products and cooking oils from sewers at a cost that is paid for through our bills. Not pleasant for the people removing this mess either.

Now that the rush of the Open Morning is over, we are looking ahead to the next steps for those families who are considering joining us next September. The next step for many will be to attend a Taster Day with us.

The Kibworth & Fleckney Rotary Club are staging another Bonfire and Firework Spectacular. Those who have been before witnessed an amazing firework display, put on by the very professional Hi-5 Fireworks company.

The monthly public meeting was held on 1 September in the Studio at the Kibworth Grammar School Hall.

A report for the Council Cabinet on 23 September laid out the dire financial position for local government and for Leicestershire County Council in particular. The Council’s budget gap is set to grow from £8m to £28m next year and could surpass £140m by 2026. Although the Council, which is known for its efficient spending of available money, has had to face and plan for many budget challenges in recent years, this is on a scale never seen before in my 21 years as a County Councillor.

On 25 September, the church was packed for our annual Harvest Festival. Gifts of Cash and Goods were received for ‘The Well’ Food Bank.

It seemed the whole country paused in respect and reflection at the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, including those in the UK’s osteopathy community, which has benefitted from various royal patronages and links over the years.

Another summer and season of cricket has flown by at Kibworth Cricket Club. We are celebrating many successes; the main highlight being the First XI winning the Leicestershire and Rutland Premier League.

On Thursday 15 September 2022 Stuart Court celebrated 30 years since it was officially opened by the Duchess of Gloucester. It had in fact welcomed its first residents through the door the year before but her diary was already booked up until September 1992!
