The AGM, our first by Zoom, was held on Monday 22 March and officers re-elected. Chair: Paul Rose, Vice-Chair: Sarah Cripps, Treasurer: David Jenkinson and Secretary (because no one else will fill such big shoes): Erica Parsons. Other committee members are Jean McCann and Helen Simpson.

The last twelve months have been strange to say the least, but that hasn't prevented the team at St Peter's Church Church Langton from engaging in a new and exciting project.

Firstly: are unusual ways of earning a living an outcome of the unusual circumstances we are experiencing? Or perhaps have they come to the surface as journalists cast their net wider for human stories?

We have experienced all types of weather during  the past month including rain, snow and  sunshine. A north wind has dominated the air flow keeping temperatures below normal for this time of year. Walking across arable fields,  I have been surprised at how dry the ground is; already large cracks are visible everywhere. Despite this, Nature has followed its normal  sequence and readers walking up Church Road will have enjoyed the daffodils on the bank     below the church. The sound of children playing  in the parks during the Easter holiday is another sign that spring has arrived. Today I have  watched birds collecting material for building  nests. 

Rosie was born in Keyham but spent most of her childhood living in Oadby where she went to Leicester High School.  She studied Sports Science at Loughborough University.  In her twenties, she lived in the South of France for a short time and then moved to London where she worked as a PE teacher in a Prep School in Chiswick.  Now married with 3 children, she moved to Kibworth shortly before their first child started school in 2012.

Hello again. Thanks for taking the time to read article number two from Kibworth Fire Station.  It’s been a fairly quiet month for the station,  however within the last week we have attended  a domestic fire, a road traffic collision (Car vs  Motorbike) and a van that ignited after collid ing with a canal bridge wall.

Fraud Recovery Fraud is when criminals contact victims purporting to be from their bank, a law enforcement agency, solicitors or “specialist recovery” firm. They will already have some knowledge of the victim’s case and will claim to be able to help the victim get their money back, or some amount of compensation, for a fee. This is often because it is the same criminal targeting the victim again, or the victim’s details have been sold on the dark web to other fraudsters.

A year after our Kibworth and Smeeton WI members’ meeting in early March 2020 - just before the first lockdown - we held a meeting on Zoom. Some members had been taking part in online activities organised by the National Federation of Women’s Institutes. But, for many this would be their first meeting. A chance then to see and speak to their W.I. friends, albeit on a computer screen. The committee was looking for something light-hearted and fun. They chose Steve Price, with his, “Virtually Impossible Magic Tricks and Illusions.”

In recognition of the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, the union flag was flown at half-mast at St Wilfrid's Church, Kibworth in accordance with guidelines from the Church of England.

We have two large wooden framed vegetable beds in our garden in Glooston which we either never get round to planting out or have failed in what we have tried to grow (apart from runner beans).
