For over 60 years Blaston Show has been welcoming crowds for an iconic countryside-orientated day out. The 2023 show will take place on Sunday 25 June just outside the village of Slawston, between Market Harborough and Uppingham.

March was another busy month for the Hall and we had the usual number of regular classes. At the end of the month the Hall was booked out for Main St Theatre and Kibworth Theatre Companies’ joint production of A Bunch of Amateurs. The production played to a very full Hall for three consecutive evenings. Leicester Wildlife Hospital did a table top sale. Additionally, we remain well used for children’s parties.

All are welcome to join our Club, especially beginners and juniors, as two 5-week Coaching Courses are planned for the spring and summer. Level 2 Coach, Andy Wright, assisted by Level 1 Coach, Miriam Wohl, will be running sessions on five tables.

The Coronation Service will take place on the morning of Saturday, 6 May at Westminster Abbey. St Wilfrid’s Church Hall will be open if people would like to come together to watch the televised service. The times are due to be announced soon.

I wonder if you have taken a trip to the new Recycling Facility along the A6 out of Kibworth? What an amazing selection of choices for our recycling. Now which number was it for electrical goods or plastic bottles? Thankfully staff are around to answer our queries.

On Friday 3 March, Kibworth was part of a huge wave of prayer encircling the earth for at least 38 hours. It all began at dawn in Western Samoa and Tonga in the Pacific Ocean (when we were listening to the 6pm news on Thursday evening) and ended at dusk in American Samoa (when we were having our Saturday morning breakfast).

Audrey Hepburn - the famous actress, is sadly no longer with us. People -at least some people-listen uncritically, to the words of stars from the big screen and television. Audrey Hepburn once said,memorably, 'To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow’. Sowing seeds is one of life’s most hopeful activities..It points towards an unknown future, warmer and longer days and an abundant harvest. March, according to the seed packets is the time to sow. The weather may be chilly as it often is in March (as I write this it is trying to snow!) so a pot and tray on the warm windowsill is usually an effective alternative.
