Jeff Wayne wrote the melody for Forever Autumn in 1969 as a jingle for a Lego commercial. Whether or not that particular advert was a success Lego is still as popular as ever (with all age groups). The name is derived from two Danish words, leg and godt, which mean play well, something Lego does perfectly. Tiny plastic bricks that can literally build worlds!

In June I submitted an article to the Chronicle regarding Smeeton Westerby rectory and its residents. Since then I have acquired a letter, dated 22 July 1902, sent to the Rev Sale at the Rectory from the Rev Ambrose Pudsey Dawson, who was the last of the clerical heads and remained as headmaster of Kibworth Grammar School. His term of office was from 1889 until he resigned in 1906, in order to move to the village of Harston, which is close to Belvoir Castle. During his time in Kibworth he lived in School House and it is from here that this letter is written. A copy of it is shown here but due to its poor condition I decided to transcribe the handwritten message for additional clarity

Looking ahead to the colder autumn and winter days and the serious problems some families face, we’re so fortunate to have agencies coming into The Well café in Kibworth to help people who are struggling to pay their bills and heat their homes. The Foodbank is another great blessing for people who have hit rock bottom.

It is with great sadness that The Kibworth Band announce the death, just short of his 101^st birthday of their President Jack Perbedy. As we wrote in the Chronicle this time last year as he celebrated his 100^th birthday, Jack was a Kibworth lad who never forgot his roots. In gratitude and appreciation of his musical start with the Kibworth  Band, where he rose from player to conductor in a short period of time, he became a lifelong supporter of Kibworth and many other local bands.

Saturday, 2 September, marked the 100^th Village Produce Show in Burton Overy. The village WI started the show in 1923.

Following the public meeting on 23 May in Kibworth Grammar School Hall, further meetings with Network Rail were held with local councillors and MP, Neil O’Brien to change the original plans of a long diversion via Church Road to a temporary footbridge.

The parish council’s monthly meetings during the summer were held on 1 June and 3 August in the Studio at the Kibworth Grammar School Hall with the annual walkabout on 6 Jul

The Parish Council’s monthly public meetings over the summer were held on 27 June and, with no meeting in July, on 22 August. All meetings are held in the Studio at the Kibworth Grammar School Hall.

Coming to terms with loss and adjusting to life without someone can be a daunting and difficult task. As part of our ongoing bereavement care, E.C. Gilbert Ltd, Funeral Directors, hope to help people cope with overwhelming feelings, including loneliness or isolation and assist the people in our community in rebuilding their lives.

At 6:45am on Saturday 2 September and following the success of our previous charity climb up Mount Snowdon in 2021, firefighters from Kibworth station took on the even bigger challenge of climbing the highest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis.

It's that time of year again, after our summer break to meet up for the autumn term and start fine tuning the songs for our forthcoming charity concert!
