The Coronation Weekend was a great time for getting together with friends and neighbours as is illustrated by the people of Burton Overy performing a regal wave above.

Friday, 5th May was not only the start of the celebrations for the King's Coronation but also the return of the Welcome Kitchen. 

Lloyds Pharmacy on Station Street has been, or is about to be, bought by the highly respected Oadby based family run business, Somerby Pharmacy. I think this building was a chemist shop some 100 years ago.

The Scout Association hold a close and historical relationship with the royal family, to which all members of the movement make a promise when joining to do their duty to the King.

Those who came to this talk by Julie Harrison in Kibworth Community Library on 20 April were given an enthralling account of the animals she and her husband Ian had encountered during their eight trips to the huge Kruger National Park in North East South Africa.

In July the Harborough Singers return to the barn where they rehearsed during the later stages of Covid. Happily, this time they will not be evading a killer virus, but expressing their gratitude to the barn’s owners, the Johnson family, of Rectory Farm at Great Easton.

Last Sunday, 14 May, was an auspicious day when at last, Kibworth Harcourt Post Mill, a unique and outstanding historic mill, was officially reopened during National Mills Weekend by members of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) plus interested guests.

Kibworth Grammar School Hall AGM was held on the 12 April. This was a very well attended meeting and the trustees would like to say a big thank you to all who came along.

How can it be May already? It doesn’t feel like we’ve seen much sunny spring weather yet, or is it just me?

There are many reasons why we should be worried about the climate crisis we face. However, thankfully, there are still good news stories about saving wildlife and reducing our carbon footprints.

Foxton Community Choir will be bringing you a concert to delight the senses with a wide variety of joyful and uplifting music. With special guest sopranos, it will take place on Saturday 10 June at 7.30pm at St Andrew’s Church, Foxton.

In Smeeton Westerby, we celebrated the King’s Coronation in style. From flags flying throughout the village to our special church service. Plus the Coronation BBQ, and Big Community Help out, (litter picking along the roads that enter our village). It was all rounded off with a ‘bring your own’ picnic!
