Jack and Ellen Stamp founded J Stamp & Sons in 1946, working as french polishers and antique furniture restorers. They worked from a small workshop in the village of Drayton, situated in the Welland Valley. Prior to the Second World War, Jack had worked for a local business. They were antique furniture dealers and restorers and undertakers in Market Harborough.

Around 20 members of the Club took part in a Leicestershire Round Relay. They tackled 102 miles of footpaths and over 6,000 feet of ascent around the County.

Norton & Gaulby Young Farmers Club are celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. We are hosting a Black Tie Dinner at The Kube, Leicester Racecourse on Saturday 8 October, 6:30 for 7pm. Tickets are £45 per person.

We are so excited to announce the details of our 10th Anniversary concerton on Saturday 29 October. The venue will be the Church of St James the Greater, London Road, Leicester (opposite Victoria Park)

Looking back at June, we enjoyed an excellent, well-prepared talk about ‘The Life of Marilyn Monroe’ by Julie Kinnear. Affected by her unfortunate early life, Marilyn was constantly trying to improve herself. She never felt that she was beautiful, or particularly good enough. Paradoxically, when working as a model, and later in the film industry, she was constantly exploited for her looks.

Who would have imagined that Fleckney would become the new epicentre of the dramatic arts?

The trustees are pleased to announce that we finally have a treasurer to join us on the committee of KGSH. Welcome Geraldine Burns who has lived in the village for a couple of years now and is keen to become more involved in village life.  Geraldine will be co-opted as a trustee at a special meeting. We are sure that she will be a great asset to our team.  Whilst the hall is busy, we still have some slots available.
