An eight week course on how to meditate began recently on Wednesday 5 June in Kibworth Village Hall. The weekly sessions are on until 24 July. Each session costs £7 and are drop-in sessions. Wednesdays 1pm-2pm. Everyone is welcome. Tel 0116 262 0317.

The young people have been busy this term, making the most of the great British weather both sunshine and, of course, rain!

On Saturday 29 June, 7pm onwards in the Kibworth Scout Hut there will be a pop-up pub and quiz. The quiz starts at 7.30pm and is £5 to enter. 

Vice-Captain's Golf Day - a Resounding Success with New Pizza and BBQ Event

The annual Vice- Captain's Golf Day was held recently and proved to be a tremendous success, bringing together members for a day of friendly competition, camaraderie, and delicious food. This year's event was particularly special with the introduction of a new pizza and BBQ event, which added a delightful culinary twist to the proceeding.

The golf tournament saw an impressive turnout with players competing in a friendly yet competitive spirit, aiming for those elusive birdies and eagles.

The addition of the pizza and BBQ event was a hit among attendees. Beyond the competition and delicious food, the Vice- Captain's Golf Day was a celebration of community and camaraderie.
Members and guests had the opportunity to socialize, share stories, and forge new friendships. The event also featured a raffle with proceeds going to Rainbows Hospice adding a charitable dimension to the day's enjoyment.

The positive feedback regarding the new pizza and BBQ addition suggests it will become a staple in the years to come. Watch out for our Pizza Take Away service coming soon!

Our Annual Charity Golf Day took place on Friday 7 June at the Kibworth Golf Club. 20 Teams entered, many returning, year after year, to support this event.

Around 1o’clock the teams set off for a shot gun start. The weather was kind and they all returned to the club house for a buffet and prize giving, some having enjoyed good golf and some just a good walk!
Congratulations to the winning team, who was captained by Tom Nimmo, and it was at least their third win in this competition.

The charity this year was Prostaid, a local charity supporting people living with prostate cancer.

Rob Banner, one of the founders and trustees of the charity, gave a short talk about the importance of being aware of the early symptoms of prostate cancer and the mostly positive outcome, if treated early. A fantastic sum, in the region of £2800, was raised.

The Kibworth Art Lovers Society held its annual exhibition at the Kibworth Community Hub. Held on the first weekend of June, we were delighted with the public response. After the great team effort of gathering in the entries, receiving the paintings, setting up the screens and hanging the art works to the best advantage, a footfall of over 200 visitors from the village and farther afield was our reward.

What a success, yet again, LMT’s Quizaret was. With ten teams competing, it was ‘heads down’ for the table quizzes before ‘curtain up’ at 7.30 for the start of the Cabaret.

F3 enjoyed getting back to their winning ways in the second last match of the season. Playing against Regent Sports 1 with Callum and Drew Harbidge plus Andy Haddon trouncing their opponents.

We are celebrating 90 years of drama in 2024 and will be performing ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ by Alan Ayckbourn on Wednesday 20 - Saturday 23 November 2024.

In community life few events hold as much significance as the Women’s Institute meetings. Not just a forum for business discussions, these gatherings are a celebration of camaraderie, shared passions and of course a dash of fun.
