No stranger to long-distance fell running, Sam Pole has undertaken his biggest challenge yet, tackling the 268 miles of the Pennine Way.

There is a great deal in the news at the moment about people’s mental and emotional wellbeing, though these go hand in hand of course.

 In common with most organisations, we have no meetings and fewer activities to write about, so we thought we would share some of the humour contained in our WI’s Yearbook record of life during the pandemic.

Well, 2020 certainly hasn’t been the year for travel but I think we’ve all discovered somewhere new while we’ve stayed closer to home. Whether it was walking on the golf course, wandering down a lane we’d never noticed or picking up a takeaway from a restaurant or pub we’d never tried before. Delivering books around the village, we definitely found many previously untrodden paths!

 Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all of the major board honours and regular annual trophy competitions at the club were cancelled for the year.

Faced with the dilemma of what to do about the Covid pandemic, I decided to help out by delivering fresh produce boxes whilst the supermarkets weren’t an option and to keep busy and active. 

Sarah Potter passed away on 15 August at the age of 49 following a long illness, spending the last week of her life in LOROS.
