Our 2022 programme began with Baroness Bolsover guiding us through ‘The Etiquette of Taking Victorian Afternoon Tea’. She wore a beautiful Victorian tea dress and splendid hat, and carried a reticule (a dainty fabric bag with drawstrings). She told us not to worry if we’d never heard of her. Most of the good people of Bolsover hadn’t either! Thus the tone of the evening was set.

Kibworth Harcourt Windmill Restoration latest. It is now six months since work started to repair the Windmill.

This is certainly true when it comes to my wonderful, brave daughter Rosie. Rosie has moderate learning difficulties and generalised anxiety. Originally from Kibworth, she now lives in supported living in Market Harborough.

Belated Happy New Year and what a year this will be for Kibworth Ladies Choir! We are well underway rehearsing for our 10th Anniversary concert to be held this summer. Ten years – where has that time gone?

Despite all the odds being against us, Last Minute Theatre rose like a Phoenix from the ashes and defied COVID. Concerned over a suspected lack of confidence of audiences returning to theatre. Would we have enough players on the night? Amazingly, at the final hour, we boasted a full cast and crew for every one of the 6 performances of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk!’ Phew!

Preparations are going well as we head towards the “Area” Contest with most seats filled albeit some on a temporary basis and we are looking forward to a good result. Competition will be tough – we will be up against 15 other 1^st Section bands from the North Midlands area.

I am delighted to share with you that Kibworth Osteopaths has been awarded Osteopath of the Year for Central England, for the second year in a row! 

The word ‘understand’ comes from the Latin meaning ‘to grasp’ and is related to the idea of ‘standing between things’ in order to separate them out. I was intrigued some years ago to come across the ideas of the philosopher Kieran Egan. In his book ‘The Educated Mind’ he argues that we pass through various kinds of understanding as we grow.

Great Glen Gardening Club has started 2022. We are resuming our regular activities after the necessary Covid adjustments of the last couple of years.
