Part of the old St Paul's Cathedral in London collapsed in 1580; Why? History buffs take note! London experienced a great earthquake. Some, at the time thought it was divine displeasure. A song was composed titled ‘Awake, Awake, sweet England’. It has survived for over 400 years. It is still sung in 2021 to the tune- familiar to many- the carol ‘God rest ye merry gentlemen’.

Well, you may be thinking, I have never seen that title in the Chronicle before. YoYou would be right, for both Great Glen’s Main Street and Kibworth’s Theatre Companies are amalgamating for their next show. So why is this you may be asking yourselves? The reason is that MSTC rehearse and practice in Great Glen Village Hall but this building is soon to be pulled down and rebuilt into a new community hub. The proposed building will house a brand new larger hall, the parish council offices and other community rooms. However, with the work planned to begin at the end of October or beginning of November, the drama society will have no base to rehearse and perform. So when a proposal was made to join with Kibworth, it seemed the perfect solution.

The Kibworth Cricket Club 2021 season came to a close with the 1st XI adding the Premier League title to the County Cup. Double winners for the season, we celebrated in style and apologies to anyone witnessing players still in whites in the early hours on a Sunday morning!
