You may wonder how anyone could talk about pumpkins for an hour, let alone make it entertaining and enjoyable. We soon found out when Russell Atwood, known as The Pumpkin Man, told us all about them. We learned how to prepare the ground and grow them and, more importantly, how to use them.

Kibworth Ladies Choir are finally singing again! As with many choirs and musical groups, the pandemic put a very sudden and unexpected halt to our regular choir practice with our last meeting on 9 March 2020. The friendship and bond we have as a choir have however made us stronger and helped support each other throughout the last 18 months. We have met a couple of times over Zoom by celebrating VE Day and Christmas and singing some of our old favourites. But nothing can compare to the excitement and anticipation we all felt when given the green light that we were finally allowed to meet up and sing as a choir once again.
A much changed outdoor bowling season has just finished. I think everyone was happy to get back on the green and turnout has been very good. Club Membership has held up very well with a good number of new members from our Open Day and Monday nights Open Bowling.
The first meeting of our newly formed The New Normal Cancer Support group will take place at the Kibworth Cricket Club at 7.30pm on Wednesday 20 October.
Thank you for everyone’s support regarding the start of Kibworth’s two new youth singing groups. The buzz this has caused has been really exciting. We’re all so proud to see the singers waiting eagerly to get started at the beginning of rehearsals!
Well, you may be thinking, I have never seen that title in the Chronicle before. YoYou would be right, for both Great Glen’s Main Street and Kibworth’s Theatre Companies are amalgamating for their next show. So why is this you may be asking yourselves? The reason is that MSTC rehearse and practice in Great Glen Village Hall but this building is soon to be pulled down and rebuilt into a new community hub. The proposed building will house a brand new larger hall, the parish council offices and other community rooms. However, with the work planned to begin at the end of October or beginning of November, the drama society will have no base to rehearse and perform. So when a proposal was made to join with Kibworth, it seemed the perfect solution.
The Kibworth Cricket Club 2021 season came to a close with the 1st XI adding the Premier League title to the County Cup. Double winners for the season, we celebrated in style and apologies to anyone witnessing players still in whites in the early hours on a Sunday morning!
