Several roads between Kibworth, Fleckney and Saddington have been identified recently as being above the national average for road traffic collisions (RTC). These roads are, Fleckney Road, Kibworth Road and a section of Warwick Road. The speed limit for these roads is currently 60 mph, however they will soon all be being reduced to 50 mph.

The row of houses, we know as the Villas, on Church Road was originally called Beauchamp Cottages.

Anna was born in Leicester and grew up in Kibworth with her twin brother and older brother. She attended the local Church, which she loved, and participated in the local Am-dram group, the Kibworth Theatre Company.

Many moons ago, I attended a 'forties event' in the Kibworth Grammar School. I was dressed in my 'Mellors' gamekeeper outfit, and found myself sitting next to the late Betty Ward. That lovely lady had her Land Army gear on, just as she had done during WW2.

Discover the multi-tasking Victorian. Looking at the ornate bill of sale, below, I was surprised to learn how versatile our ancestors actually were. They often turned their hand to almost any assignment. By the design of the letterhead, it would appear that this company tackled most projects that came their way. The businessman, Edward Mason, was based in Kibworth and a noted builder, contractor and monumental mason in the area.

The Festival of Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeology will be running from 3rd July to 1st August. The county festival is part of the UK’s biggest archaeological event, the National Festival of Archaeology.
