South Leicestershire Medical Group (SLMG)

31st May 2021 | Community, Health

As of Saturday 10 April, SLMG will have completed over 10,000 COVID-19 vaccinations to our patient population. All COVID-19 vaccinations currently take place at Kibworth Medical Centre (KMC) on Smeeton Road. As per NHS England specifications, practices that belong to our Primary Care Network (PCN) also have to provide their Pfizer vaccinations from KMC. This is because the Pfizer vaccine cannot be moved from site-to-site. It is also because the vaccine needs to be utilised within four days from delivery. Therefore, Billesdon Surgery and The Croft Medical Centre in Oadby use KMC on a regular basis to vaccinate their patients.

After seeing and reading the front and back pages of last month’s Chronicle, I was pleasantly surprised to have a phone call the following week from a member of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) Special Operations Team.  He rang to ask if I would attend a site meeting the following Monday, in my role as chairman of Kibworth Harcourt Parish Council, together with an officer from Harborough District Council, so we could have the repair work outlined and communication lines agreed to share details of the project as it unfolds.  I was pleased to direct the engineers from SPAB to the excellent article about the windmill on the Kibworth Village Museum website.

What can we do about the climate crisis?

30th May 2021 | Community

Sadly the pandemic has had a catastrophic effect for many people, including many readers of the Kibworth Chronicle; loss of jobs and loss of income, loss of family members and friends. It all seems hopeless. And yet, it is being seen by many as a wakeup call and a vital opportunity for us while there is still time, to change the way we live, for a safer as well as fairer society for all and to stop further pandemics.
