In 1086 the recorded population of Glooston was eight. This increased to 177 by 1831 but steadily declined to a mere 54 in the 2001 census. There has been some new housing adjacent to the road to Goadby doubling the population now to 119 in 2021.

For all those people who have subscribed to the service of having their garden waste disposed of by HDC, the last collection for this year is in the final two weeks of November/Early December.

In this month's article, the focus is on our food bank. For those of you that don’t know, our food bank ‘popped-up’ during the first lockdown of the pandemic. Remember that?! 

Local volunteers met with representatives from the mill owners (The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings), Historic England and two experienced millers to work through the snagging list, following completion of the extensive repairs completed last year.
