At our January meeting we were treated to a talk about Wildlife in Kibworth by an enthusiastic amateur who is a member of our WI. The speaker was Julie Harrison accompanied by her husband Ian. Julie spoke about the different species of birds and other animals illustrated by superb photographs taken by Ian.

Kibworth station has had a busy start to the year with our appliance being mobilised 21 times during January. Some notable incidents include; a road traffic collision on the A6 (Great Glen) roundabout, domestic property fire, car fire and a chimney fire.

Acupuncture Pathways of Energy

Traditional acupuncture theories of health or illness are based on the concept of Qi (pronounced chee). There are several translations for the concept of Qi and the ones that resonate with my own perceptions are ‘life force’ and ‘vitality’. The derivation of the word Qi is from Chinese language and philosophy. Similar to our own complex language of English, the context of a word will give you so many different meanings! For example, in Chinese medicine the word “shengqi” can be anger, vitality, mood, sparkle, to sulk.

Meet your Parish Councillors - Patricia (Trish) Formoy

Originally from North Wales and then moving around in 3- or 4-year stints, I arrived with my family in Kibworth 21 years ago and have accidentally put down deep roots.  Retired now, I am involved both as a player and director at Kibworth Golf Club. I also do some volunteer driving for VASL, like to parkrun weekly and dog-walk daily.

County Councillor for Gartree - February 2023

The site was handed back to LCC on 9 January 2023. There are still some finishing touches to be concluded by the contractor. In the interim, LCC will continue preparing the site in readiness for opening. This is now expected to be mid to late February. An exact date cannot be given at this time. LCC are still awaiting the permit to operate the site being issued after an inspection by the Environment Agency.
