Editorial - March 2024 - As editor of this community publication I occasionally browse Facebook pages entitled Kibworth and Smeeton Information Exchange. It is excellent for keeping everyone abreast about what is going on in and around the neighbourhood. I particularly appreciate the humorous comments when traffic signals are regularly installed on the A6 for the odd road improvements, or not.

Following the success of our 2022 Open Gardens Day, the Foxton Gardens Society has plans for a follow-up.

Kibworth Community Hub latest. We are pleased to announce that our fundraising efforts to develop the Hub are beginning to bear fruit. We are hoping to start building phase one, the new library, soon. Recently, members of the steering group visited Moulton Community Centre. Both interesting and rewarding to see what can be achieved. Moulton hosts the community library as well as several different groups which serve the local area. If our plans are fulfilled, we are confident that the Hub will be a valuable asset for Kibworth for many years to come.

Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital will be holding a fundraising meal on Thursday 18 April at The Shires Inn, Peatling Parva LE17 5PU.

Kibworth Scouts go to Westminster Abbey. Thursday 22 February sees scouts and guides celebrate Founders Day or Thinking Day, the shared birthday of Robert Baden Powell and his wife, Olave Baden Powell.

‘Death on the Rocks’, our latest ‘Whodunit’ Supper Evening extravaganza, is to be staged in Smeeton Westerby Village Hall. 7 for 7.30pm, on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 April.

Pensioner Bernard Jordan in 2014, absconded from his home in Hove to attend an event in France to marking the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Starring Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson.
