Following the merger of Kibworth Theatre Company and Main Street Theatre Company, we are pleased to announce that our new name is Main Stage Theatre Company.

And so, the summer is upon us, meteorologically speaking at least!

Retirement? Not yet, months, years, even decades! Some time ago a colleague passed by on his way home after a day at work. If I was within hearing distance he would say ‘that is another day nearer retirement’. To continue the story he was somewhat eccentric, writing steamy novels in his lunch break which were never published; also he was an amateur wrestler! Some time later I met a former working colleague and asked the inevitable question – he had finally retired.

We regularly hear of the dire effects of the changing climate yet somehow struggle to take action; governments even less so, it seems. Most people reading this will have taken steps to reduce their carbon footprint, yet it all seems a bit pointless.

Cream Teas will be held in St. Peter’s Church, Church Langton by popular demand starting on Sunday 7 July to Sunday 1 September. 

Taylor Swift is one of the world’s best-selling singer-songwriters. She credits beginning to write on all the books she loved to read as a child. 

Running on its usual 'last Sunday in June' date, 30 June. Blaston Show kicks off with a Pre-Show Party on the Friday night, to which anyone can come. The cost is just £5 for adults. Children 12 and under get in for free – as do members and sponsors. There will be food, music, a licensed bar and great company.

A local graphic designer has written and published a debut novel which is now available to buy. Paul Johnson, from Tur Langton, has been running a design agency since 1996. He has decided to turn his hand to writing a book, which he began during the Covid lockdown of 2021. Published under his pen name, Ben George Johnson, the book, called The Creaking Tree, is described as a light-hearted fantasy adventure for all the family. Initial reviews have been extremely positive, as the author explains… “I have been amazed by the number of people that have given me such positive feedback about the book already. I am a first-time writer with no experience in the field whatsoever so to receive such praise is both humbling and exciting. I wanted to create a story that makes people happy, one that is free of nastiness and full of optimism and hope. I have always had a wild imagination and this has really helped me create the wonderful characters and storyline.”
