Thank you for everyone’s support regarding the start of Kibworth’s two new youth singing groups. The buzz this has caused has been really exciting. We’re all so proud to see the singers waiting eagerly to get started at the beginning of rehearsals!

Well, you may be thinking, I have never seen that title in the Chronicle before. YoYou would be right, for both Great Glen’s Main Street and Kibworth’s Theatre Companies are amalgamating for their next show. So why is this you may be asking yourselves? The reason is that MSTC rehearse and practice in Great Glen Village Hall but this building is soon to be pulled down and rebuilt into a new community hub. The proposed building will house a brand new larger hall, the parish council offices and other community rooms. However, with the work planned to begin at the end of October or beginning of November, the drama society will have no base to rehearse and perform. So when a proposal was made to join with Kibworth, it seemed the perfect solution.

The Kibworth Cricket Club 2021 season came to a close with the 1st XI adding the Premier League title to the County Cup. Double winners for the season, we celebrated in style and apologies to anyone witnessing players still in whites in the early hours on a Sunday morning! 

2019 Loved & Found Castelao (Waitrose £6.99)

WI hosted a fashion show in September. This proved very popular and was really well attended. We are looking forward to some outings so we can wear our new purchases. Over £300 was raised. This was divided between Breast Cancer Research and Macmillan Cancer Care. Being able to help these charities brings us great joy. 

Here, at LMT, we are on our annual journey to Pantomime in January 2022!

We were pleased to welcome some visitors and two new members to our first face-to-face meeting on 9 September. With sensible precautions in place, members were able to relax and enjoy the evening. Our speaker was Ian Robertson, who entertained us with ‘Smile please, Say Cheese.’ He told us many interesting facts about cheese, with amusing jokes thrown in for good measure. Ian said that he was having trouble with some cheeses in the warm weather. Cheese is a living thing and he said that at the moment it was living like mad! The Brie was practically melting! (Actually, for my taste it was perfect!)

Local Youth Projects are very excited to announce a new youth club for the younger people of Fleckney. 11 to 16 year olds can come along to the Baptist Church Hall on Main Street, Fleckney. The club will run on Wednesday evenings, during term time, from 7pm to 8.15pm.

We started the new Rotary Year on July 1 with Robert Easthope (left in our picture) taking over from Michael Smith as President of the Club.

The Band are now back to full rehearsals, whilst continuing to take Covid precautions, and are looking forward to gradually returning to normal, realistically, though, it will be some months before any indoor performances are possible.
