After over a year of inactivity we are looking to the next Covid lockdown announcements. We hope that we will be able to reopen the band room and restart rehearsals, albeit with ‘bell covers’ on all the instruments and socially distanced seating.

Since our previous newsletter we are very pleased to report that the majority of our organised Ramblers Walking Programme has relaunched. This is as the country moves cautiously, step by step, towards resuming a more normal lifestyle.

Plans are progressing for our next production. This will be a mix of sketches, songs, poems and monologues all on the theme of Christmas. It will be on the stage for two nights on 10/11 December.

Kevin Messenger, John Allen, Scott Pilkington and Neil Hammond have completed numerous challenges for charity in the past. This year their new found love of golf sees them doing it again! They are going to play 72 holes in one day at Kibworth Golf Club on Friday 2 July to raise money for Prostate Cancer.

On Sunday 25^th April, a group of seven Kibworth based South Leicestershire Litter Wombles met up to start clearing some of the historic fly-tipping along Mill Lane.

The Kibworth Theatre Company is your local theatre group and a registered charity. We are a jolly gang of local people, who work hard with the talent we have, to bring great productions to the village. Once lockdown has been lifted finally, we will be working full tilt towards one of our next productions, ‘ The Vicar of Dibley’, which is due for performance next year. We’re also exploring other productions for the Christmas season. Watch this space for more information.

For the last few terms, our Rainbow group has been meeting on Zoom. Fingers crossed, after two more weeks on Zoom we will be finally meeting Face to Face. Rainbows are all about having fun and trying out new things. We play games, do activities, challenges and earn lots of badges. Rainbows is a great place to make lots of new friends and to build your confidence with girls the same age (5-7).

Kibworth Theatre Company is pleased to announce that their AGM will take place on Friday 16 July. There will be a barbecue straight after the meeting.  If anyone would like to attend, please contact Martyn at m_wyburn@yahoo.com for further details.

The W.I. is still associated in many peoples’ minds with, ‘ jam, cakes and Jerusalem!’ These may be an enjoyable part of most of our meetings, but there is so much more to us. In addition to our meetings, with a variety of speakers and activities, the W.I. is a campaigning force.

Rotarians and members Graham Thompson and John Addison are planning a fundraising challenge in memory of past members Nick Lacey and Rod Mitchell, who sadly passed away within 24 hours of each other at Loros Hospice last October.
They propose to play golf for 12 hours on Thursday 27th May, starting at 8am, 12pm and 4pm, to raise funds for the hospice, which has lost a huge amount of income during the lockdown due to cancellation of fundraising events.
