Hoorah, at long last andwith a couple of false starts, the relaxation of rules means that the Choir can now look forward to singing together again. Resilience ought to be our middle name as we’ve used Zoom and even the Foxton Recreation ground to try to continue singing through this difficult period, so it’s great to announce that the Choir will start rehearsing again in the Church from October.

The Kibworth Photography Group was set up on Facebook in November 2020. It was initially set up by Andy Marlow with myself joining him to help with administration.

After an absolute eternity communicating through technology, Illston WI eventually got together in July.

As the country has moved progressively out of Lockdown we have more or less succeeded in reinstating our full programme of short, half day and all day walks and both existing and new members have been turning out with growing confidence. I personally recently sampled one of our Thursday morning walks; this was a shade less than 6 miles. The expectations that I had for this walk, from Ab Kettleby in this case, were all met including being well led by one of our many experienced walk leaders Paul. The bonus on this occasion was the prospect of sharing a well earnt lunch at the villages Sugar Loaf Inn with fellow walkers. A timely reminder that quite apart from the obvious health and fitness aspects that the sociability and camaraderie of Rambling remains intact! We continue to experience and indeed welcome newcomers to our ranks, many new faces have come across us via our Facebook page. Anyone is welcome to come along and learn the basics of table tennis, all ages and abilities are welcome, especially people who have never picked up a bat. Why don’t you try it? What’s the worst that could happen?

The Kibworth Art Lovers are emerging from the latency imposed by Covid restrictions with an exhibition of their work to be held, by kind invitation of Roger and Nan Whiteway, at their venue opposite the Kibworth Co-op. The exhibition will take place on Friday 24, Saturday 25, and Sunday 26 September and will feature original paintings for viewing and for sale.

Our last two meetings before the August break were on Zoom, with the hope that we would soon resume our face-to-face meetings.

There have been 3 further races in the Reunion League since our last update. Race 2 in the series was the Joy Cann 5 Mile race hosted by Huncote Harriers. Ten club members were in a field of over 500, with a trio of Ladies leading the way, Lorna Muskett, Abby Davies and Bernadette Owen (1^st in Age Category.) The men’s contingent saw Kirit Patel back first, with John Redfearn, Alan Gibson, Jamie Owen and Andy Kemp also completing. Emma Boyd and League Race debutant Tracey Coates made up the Ladies Team.

This year has certainly been challenging for us all down at Kibworth Golf Club. After mastering the restrictions put upon us by COVID and successfully keeping all of our members, staff and visitors safe, we sat back and took a deep breath.,

As we reach the business end of the 2021 season, our first senior team silverware of the season has made its way back to Kibworth Cricket Club. We played Loughborough Town at Leicester County Cricket Club on a fantastic Sunday afternoon. Our 12 man squad, made up of 7 players that have come through the juniors at Kibworth Cricket Club, had a superb day winning by 8 wickets.

Last Minute Theatre have taken the decision to cancel our Quizaret on Saturday 18 September. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to live theatre in January 2022 with our pantomime.

Along with our Cyberhood Watch partner, Avast, we have launched a new survey to understand whether the Covid-19 pandemic has changed our attitudes towards certain aspects of cyber security and privacy since the first lockdown in March 2020.

The season is in full flow and the club has had a great start. The 1st XI and 2nd XI both sit top of their respective divisions after nine games, with the 1st XI also moving into the Quarter Final stages of the T20 and County Cups.
