Ca’ del Lago Lugana 2021 (Lidl £7.99)

Your Rotary Club continues to be active, thirty six years after its formation. Many of the current members are founder members and the majority have been members for over 30 years.

Our new Captains have now been inaugurated. We are delighted that the Captains Drive-in event in February raised in excess of £600 for local based GEMS Charity. A great start to their year!

Our February speaker was Sue Adams, who spoke to us about Healthy Feet. Married to a farmer, she had been an Ofsted Inspector of daycare facilities, but decided to take a change of direction. Following a tough and intensive course she gained a BSc (Honours) in Podiatry. Setting up her own practice and working in the community. She began giving talks quite recently to help people because our feet are so important. Yet we often take them for granted until we have problems.

Kibworth Easy Riders along with the Fleckney and Kibworth Running Club are organising a fundraising Duathlon for LOROS on Sunday 2 April. Meet 9.30am for a 10am start at Kibworth Cricket Club.

The Leicestershire Tennis Awards took place at the Leicester Tigers Ground on Monday 13 February. Awards were presented to teams who won or came 2nd in the Leicestershire 2022 Summer and Winter Leagues. Kibworth Tennis Club won five awards which were presented by Greg Rusedski. Greg was ranked number four in the World in 1997/98 and is a tennis commentator on TV.

Volunteers needed to launch Squirrels, the newest branch of the Scouts’ family tree.

After our taster sessions in January, we have had lots more ladies join us. We now have a membership of nearly 40 which is great!

Sometime ago, before Covid, we invited our Group WI (High Leicestershire) to a ‘taste and try’ evening. The first time we did this, we made or bought starters for everyone to try. The second time we selected sweets/puddings. These were both real successes, but our group secretary, Glenice, then asked when we were having the main course. Some people are ever hopeful!!

The monthly meeting of St Wilfrid’s Mothers’ Union took place on Thursday, 2 March.  Following a communion service in the Church, the members adjourned to the hall for a talk. This was given by Janice Lunn and Yvonne Smith from the Leicestershire diocese.  Their talk focused on the projects MU have become involved with during the seventy year reign of Queen Elizabeth II who had been the Patron of the MU organisation.
