Fleckney and Kibworth Running Club November 2021 update

Fleckney & Kibworth Running Club

It’s been another busy month for our club members. We have had a number of impressive performances over the Half and Full Marathon distance.

At the other end of the distance scale we are looking to run a ‘Couch to 5k’ course in January 2022, perfect for burning off all those Christmas calories!

This is always a popular course. It’s suitable for absolute beginners or anyone who wants to get back into running after a break. All paces are catered for, it’s much easier to run in a supportive group. At the end of the 10 weeks we aim to take part in the Parkrun at Market Harborough. More details will follow next month. Please contact Andy Kemp if you are interested in taking part: andykemp50@sky.com or 07525 465643

Leicester Half – Sunday 31st October

A welcome return for this event which was last run in 2018. The 2019 event cancelled due to flooding, and 2020 postponed due to the pandemic. Many local charities benefit from the fundraising efforts, including LOROS and the Bodie Hodges Foundation.

Conditions were very wet for this one, with bin bags being a popular fashion item to keep warm pre-race. Thankfully the rain did stop for most of the runners as they neared the finish in Victoria Park.

There was a great turnout from the Club, with Pete Bennett, finishing in position 140 in a time of 1:33:50. Lorna Muskett lead the way for the ladies in 258 and a time of 1:40:40.

Also running for the club were Abby Davies (1:50), Adam Niblett (1:51) Anna-Maria Walsh (2:02), Aileen Collins (2:05) Alex Walsh (2:15) Emma Boyd (2:20) Sue Curtis (2:21) Stephen West (2:30) and Tracey Coates (2:38)

An awards ceremony, after the Half Marathon, saw trophies being handed out for the recent Leicestershire Road Running League. This included Bernie Owen, taking first place in the V60 Female Category.

Manchester Marathon – Sunday 10th October

Kirit Patel clocked a new PB of 4hrs 21 at the Manchester Marathon where over 13,000 runners took to the streets of Manchester.

Oxford Half Marathon – Sunday 17th October
