After what seemed a social whirl during the last two months, things are pretty quiet here in Smeeton Westerby. However, as we head towards Christmas, the events really start to ramp up again.

Fawlty Towers comes to Kibworth!

This November marks three years since I opened Aesthetics at 51 here in Kibworth.

Saturday 28 November

Long ago and far away there was a farmer whose greatest wealth was a four-year-old mare.  Imagine the farmer’s surprise when one morning he saw that his horse had been joined by a fine wild stallion. His neighbours praised him for his good fortune: the farmer smiled and said, "Maybe".

Folk passing by Illston village hall last Thursday night would wonder what was going on. In fact we'd forgive them for thinking contractors were in, doing major repairs - not a bit of it!! Michelle came to demonstrate how to decorate a tote bag. Not so interesting you might think, but think again.

We are pleased to announce our winter Welcome Kitchen season will be weekly starting from Monday 26 October. It's from 12-1:30pm at Kibworth Community Hub: £5 per person. This covers a bowl of delicious homemade soup, bread, cakes and a hot cup of tea or coffee.

Well, what an amazing event yet again this year? We were so lucky with the weather again which enabled us to set up some tables outside.

What a brilliant way to wrap up the season! Ilston Abey Cricket Club travelled to Ibstock Cricket Club for their final match, and chased down a massive 328 runs with real confidence. This fantastic win earned them 25 points in the Leicestershire and Rutland League – a truly splendid finish for the club.

Lambros Paphitis - better known as Aggi and previously of Kibworth Fish and Chips – has just finished a brilliant 30-mile sponsored walk for Cancer Research UK during September, raising an amazing £1,871 (including Gift Aid). He’s absolutely delighted by all the support, especially as this was his first ever fundraising event.

As the Summer holidays draw to a close and we head into Autumn, there is plenty happening at The Well as we look towards the months ahead.

A new countryside restaurant has opened at Windmill Farm Park in Kibworth Harcourt, offering local residents a new place to enjoy coffee, breakfast, and lunch.
