Editorial: A New Season and Exciting Times Ahead

We’re back after what will be remembered as a long, hot summer and ready to go! Another year beckons.

Talking of a new season, we are delighted to note ‘The Bakers Arms’ in Thorpe Langton is opening soon. Peter Syer has applied for a licence. We wish him well in his endeavours.

The Methodist playgroup has a new owner, Lucy Lewin. So a new chapter has begun there too. Again, we wish Lucy every success.

At the other end of the time schedule, I hear Malcolm Johnson of Church Langton has retired from delivering the Kibworth & District Chronicle after a very long time. We thank him for his service over the years.

Kibworth Beauchamp Grammar School Hall is celebrating its birthday this weekend. 90 years old! There is a special one-day-only exhibition. Sadly, our former editor, Roger Garratt, who was a student, trainee teacher and eventually Head of Music at the school, died earlier this year. Some of his photographs will be on display. Do pop along and take a look.

Finally, thank you to all the many contributors this month. We have been inundated with articles. Everyone wants you, our readers, to know what they have been up to or what event they have lined up for you to attend.

We live in a vibrant area of the country.

Exciting times ahead. Enjoy the read.
