Alonzo Freeland in Kibworth

Contrary to your report, the 1891 census does not show that the chemist’s shop on Station Street was owned and run by Alonso Freeland. His wife, Mary, and daughters Mabel and Cecilia, appear, but Alonzo (note the z) does not. He was away from Kibworth on census day (April 5th) because he had returned to Sussex to attend his father’s funeral. There’s also no mention of chemist on the Freeland entry; it’s not until the 1901 census that Alonzo appears as a chemist in Kibworth.

Platinum Jubilee Gallery (St Wilfrid's Church)

Right is 96 year old Norman Norledge pictured at the St Wilfrid’s prayer tent on Sunday 5 June, Smeeton Road Jubilee Celebration. Also pictured is Pat Thompson from St Wilfrid’s. Both have given permission to print in the Chronicle.
Norman is the same age as her majesty, the Queen, turning 97 in September.

Platinum Jubilee Gallery (Scouts/The Well)

It was fantastic to see everyone on Smeeton Road Rec to celebrate HM the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. A great number of Kibworth charities, businesses and groups came together to organise, fund, sponsor, donate prizes and make the event so great! There’s too many involved to name here but be sure to visit the Scouts Facebook page where you can see everyone listed. (1st Kibworth Scout Group) Thank you to everyone involved once again.
