The end of February will soon be with us. Each day (in theory) we enjoy more daylight and the sun is potentially as warm as it was at the end of October.

Traditional acupuncture theories of health or illness are based on the concept of Qi (pronounced chee). There are several translations for the concept of Qi and the ones that resonate with my own perceptions are ‘life force’ and ‘vitality’. The derivation of the word Qi is from Chinese language and philosophy. Similar to our own complex language of English, the context of a word will give you so many different meanings! For example, in Chinese medicine the word “shengqi” can be anger, vitality, mood, sparkle, to sulk.

Originally from North Wales and then moving around in 3- or 4-year stints, I arrived with my family in Kibworth 21 years ago and have accidentally put down deep roots.  Retired now, I am involved both as a player and director at Kibworth Golf Club. I also do some volunteer driving for VASL, like to parkrun weekly and dog-walk daily.

I am Caroline Pitcher (Abbott again once my divorce is finalised!) and I’m in my late 40s. My main interests are watching sport (arthritis won’t let me participate anymore), gardening and reading historical fiction. I especially love anything about Vikings.

The site was handed back to LCC on 9 January 2023. There are still some finishing touches to be concluded by the contractor. In the interim, LCC will continue preparing the site in readiness for opening. This is now expected to be mid to late February. An exact date cannot be given at this time. LCC are still awaiting the permit to operate the site being issued after an inspection by the Environment Agency.

Once again we are looking forward to welcoming you into the calving and lambing sheds at our annual open day. It's on Saturday 25 March at Binleys Bridge Farm, Debdale Lane, Smeeton Westerby, LE8 0QD.  Come down to the farm between 11am – 5pm to see the cows calving and sheep lambing.  We will hopefully have some pigs for you to see too.
