Bethan has been a great ambassador for the school. She has always been the first to volunteer to take on any kind of responsibility. A very conscientious individual who has been a great example for others to follow.

On Friday 9 June we had our annual charity golf day at Kibworth Golf Club. This year we supported our local air ambulance. 19 teams of four competed, with a shot gun start at 1pm. We were lucky with the weather. Even if the golf wasn't inspiring for some, they enjoyed a walk and friendly chat! All the teams gathered for a buffet meal afterwards. Prizes were handed out to the more skilful and competitive teams.

I first became interested in collecting badges as a child. One of my earliest dates from the mid-1960s and conferred on me the status of ‘TV21 Special Agent’. TV21 was a popular comic at the time. Like its predecessor Eagle, featuring comic strip stories and non-fiction articles about science, spaceflight and more.

On Sunday 4 June I took a bad fall in my buggie. Very many thanks to the people who were very kind in giving their time to stop and help me on my way and offer a lift to the Co-op or home. This was very much appreciated. All of you, my thanks many times over.

Rehearsals are well underway for our next production, written by group member, the very talented Ella Wright and called For One Night Only.

Apart from the odd spell, this summer’s weather has not been very kind to us. Resulting in a lower number of visitors, and not a great many boats. This impacts on many local businesses and services, as ‘the tourists’ have an effect beyond just the Locks.

The summer months have been busy for our WI, Beginning in June with a fascinating talk by Alison Emery,'Walking the Camino de Santiago'. A pilgrimage which finishes at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in the northwest of Spain.

What an amazing day raising money for such a worthwhile cause. Breast Cancer Now Afternoon Tea Event,12th August 2023, Kibworth School Grammar Hall.

This year I have the honour of being President of Kibworth Bowling Club and my chosen charity is Admiral Nurses, which is being set up by Dementia UK to provide help to those suffering from dementia in the same way that Macmillan do for those affected by cancer. 

Kibworth Tennis Club has taken steps to ensure their defibrillator is accessible to the local community.
