It’s been a very busy time out in the fields as farmers work all hours to bring in the harvest, for which we give thanks. Apparently, it’s a very good year for pumpkins due to the wet summer. Every cloud...? 

The short warm snap we are enjoying could be good news for wildlife as they stock up on food for hibernation - with balmy weather set to boost the berry season.

Over £400k has been handed out to a diverse range of community projects as the council has agreed to allocate funding to four projects in the Harborough district.

“We are courageous; we are supportive; we give it all we have got.”

I have just hosted my 20^th coffee morning for the above charity where £847 was raised, which is new record for Mowsley.  This takes the total raised from 2004 to the present to just over £9,000.  However, I feel it is now time to hand over the organisation of this annual event to someone else.

Station Road, Kibworth bridge was demolished over the weekend of 21 and 22 September 2013. Ten years ago.

Mowsley is a small rural settlement situated on high ground along with its neighbour Laughton with a population of over two hundred. The name Mowsley was apparently derive from ‘Muslai’ meaning ‘mouse infested field’.

Under a glorious blue skis six enthusiastic volunteers from Bourn (Cambridgeshire) windmill recently enjoyed a private guided tour of Kibworth Harcourt Post Mill - the latest tourist spot!

Constructions
The work to construct the skate park and the temporary footbridge over the railway continues steadily. Pictures of these events, which sometimes include ones taken from a drone appear on the Kibworth and Smeeton Information Exchange FaceBook page. It is worth looking there for the latest update.

By the time this issue goes to print, we will have enjoyed our Harvest Quiz night. With a tasty supper, followed by delicious homemade desserts and then a fun quiz, this will surely have been the recipe for a great night out.
