The Well - March 2023

Well Spring has sprung, meteorologically speaking at least. The nights are drawing out and the clocks go forward in a couple of weeks. We’re starting to see the signs of new life as snowdrops, crocus and daffodils pop up and our garden birds start checking out bird boxes for a suitable place to build a nest.

Kibworth Parish Council - March 2023

The parish council’s monthly public meeting on 2 February was held in the Studio at the Kibworth Grammar School Hall. Cllr. Feltham reported the post required for mounting the vehicle-activated sign on Albert Street is due to be installed at the end of March. He and the clerk are meeting with the Community Speed Watch team on 3 February for them to carry out a risk assessment of the three chosen locations ready for the volunteers to measure speeds over two weeks starting on 22 April.

Bridge 67 - Mar '23

Once again we are looking forward to welcoming you into the calving and lambing sheds at our annual open day. This is on Saturday 25 March at Binleys Bridge Farm, Debdale Lane, Smeeton Westerby, LE8 0QD. Come down to the farm between 11am – 5pm to see the cows calving and sheep lambing. We will hopefully have some pigs for you to see too.

Sanctuary Prayer Room

This new prayer space is now open at The Well until the end of April, for a quiet time of reflection with others or on your own. You can use the stone as a meditative tool to be placed into cleansing water. Alternatively, you can take it home as a remembrance of finding your peaceful place

Kilby WI - Mar '23

Our February meeting featured a talk about Chocolate by Tom Phillips. Tom, a former chef turned chocolatier, is now retired after over 30 years experience. He notably worked at his own business, Hannah’s Chocolates in Quorn. It was obvious his love of all things chocolate is still strong!

Mothers' Union - Mar '23

The monthly meeting of St Wilfrid’s Mothers’ Union took place on Thursday, 2 March.  Following a communion service in the Church, the members adjourned to the hall for a talk. This was given by Janice Lunn and Yvonne Smith from the Leicestershire diocese.  Their talk focused on the projects MU have become involved with during the seventy year reign of Queen Elizabeth II who had been the Patron of the MU organisation.

Ilston-on-the-Hill WI - March '23

Sometime ago, before Covid, we invited our Group WI (High Leicestershire) to a ‘taste and try’ evening. The first time we did this, we made or bought starters for everyone to try. The second time we selected sweets/puddings. These were both real successes, but our group secretary, Glenice, then asked when we were having the main course. Some people are ever hopeful!!
