Over the last month walking down Debdale Lane and across the fields in Smeeton Westerby you may have seen what looks like destruction to our fields.

Hallowe'en, one day in the year when children egged on, or not, by adults dress up/down to look scary, and anxious people at home wait for the knock at the door and 'trick treat', from the menacing kids chaperoned, hopefully, by responsible adults. What comes to mind is, do those kids or adults (under the age of 40) know the meaning of Hallowe'en and why it comes on the last day of October?

In 1086 the recorded population of Glooston was eight. This increased to 177 by 1831 but steadily declined to a mere 54 in the 2001 census. There has been some new housing adjacent to the road to Goadby doubling the population now to 119 in 2021.
