What an amazing four days we have had here in Smeeton Westerby, celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. It all started on the Thursday evening when we congregated at the allotments on Gumley Road. We enjoyed refreshments before marching along the road and up the hill to Bungalow Farm, owned by Penny and Pete Rivett. It was here that we lit our village bonfire beacon. As the flames soared into the sky, the sun started to set. It was magical to look out into the distance and see other beacons being lit too. It gave us all a wonderful feeling of togetherness for one purpose, to celebrate the reign of her Majesty.

Harborough Big Band, in support of Oxfam, are proud to present ‘Swing, Shows and Soul Music’ for your entertainment on 2 July 2022, playing music from Glenn Miller to Adele for all your dancing joy, along with a cash bar to hydrate you through the evening. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start, at the Congregational Church Hall, Market Harborough.
