Blaston Show News

Work is picking up ahead of Blaston Show’s return, after a two year break due to Covid 19. Entry schedules are now available online to compete in either agricultural or equestrian classes, or to take part in the Classic Car run.

With a new location it is worth jotting down the Whats3Words for the new showground. Enter /// conquests.starts.headliner on the What3Words app and you will be directed to the main gate.

This fabulous family day out has plenty to offer, with the stunning vintage cars and tractors, to cutting edge farming technology, terrier racing and tug-of-war competitions.

The Show, which attracts up to 5,000 visitors, will also welcome The Rockets Children’s Motorbike Display Team, and a laser clay shoot. There is always plenty of children’s entertainment and diverse shopping outlets, more than ever thanks to the new site. Not to mention a wide range of food and drink outlets.

For equestrian fans a whole host of classes will be running across several arenas, from show jumping to showing and, new for this year, the hugely popular Arena Eventing. There are also classes to suit all types of dog in the Dog Show, from ‘Best Biscuit Catcher,’ ‘Waggiest Tail’ and ‘Best Six Legs’ classes, to those for Junior Handlers and veteran dogs.

The Blaston Hound Show, is incorporated in to the main Blaston Show, since 2002, and is a nationally recognised show in its own right, providing a professional pre-run for experienced Huntsmen. Especially those aiming for The Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show, whilst also giving those less experienced the opportunity to show their hounds. Tickets can be bought online at www.blastonshow.co.uk or on the gate, which opens at 8am on the day. Entrance to the Show costs from £5 for 13-16 year olds, (12 and under are free), to £12.50 for over 16s. However, Blaston Membership is also available at £30 for two adults and two children – with plenty of member benefits. New members are warmly welcomed, application forms can be found on the website.

A significant proportion of money raised on the day will be given to local charities. This year they are the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire Air Ambulance and Home Start in Market Harborough.
