The Well May 2022 update

The Well

Our recently extended opening hours have allowed us to welcome more people through our doors.  Monday, we open 10 until 1, and Tuesday to Friday, we’re open from 10 until 4. Come and browse the items in our keenly priced pre-loved clothes shop. Stocking women’s, men’s and kids’ clothes as well as shoes and accessories.  The stock is always being replenished as we sort through the generous donations we receive. So be sure to pop along soon.

With the recent warmer weather, it’s been lovely for our customers to sit out in our sunny garden. Even though it’s a stone’s throw from the High Street, you’re more likely to hear birds singing in the trees of the nearby gardens than the constant hum of traffic.

We’ve also started selling a small selection of items in our café, including crafts, homemade cards, gifts and coffee. We often get complimented on the quality of our Carrara coffee. Well now you can buy a bag ,either beans or ground, to enjoy at home on those days that you can’t get to The Well to let us make it for you!

The cost of living crisis

Many of you reading this will be feeling the effects of the general rise in the cost of living as we see food and energy prices rise. The signs are that this will deepen for all of us over the coming months. Demand for support from our food bank is as high as ever. This means that we have to constantly monitor our stock levels. We’re lucky that we’re supported by many generous people. This keeps our shelves stocked up so that we can ensure that people, many vulnerable and isolated, aren’t left to go hungry as they struggle financially, and often mentally too.

You can help us by downloading the BankTheFood app to your smartphone.

It tells you, in real time, the items we need and a list of donation points. The latest donation basket to be added to our network is at Kibworth Primary School. You can drop items off when doing the school run!

If you’re struggling with your mental or physical health, feel lonely or isolated, want help to find work, or need advice, then our weekly Thursday drop-ins run by our partner organisations can help.

For more details about our drop-ins, follow our Facebook page @WellKibworth, email us at admin@thewellkibworth.org or call us on 0116 279 0148.

The end of the month sees us celebrating the 70 years that our Her Majesty the Queen has been on the throne. We send her our love and blessings as she reaches this astonishing milestone.
