Another busy month for club members, involved in a variety of events around the county and further afield.

Edinburgh

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival saw Tracey Coates (6:05) & Dee Mahes (4:35) taking on the Full Marathon distance. This was Dee’s first marathon, whereas Tracey was adding to her tally after running at London last year, so Cardiff or Belfast must be next on the agenda

Bernie Owen and Jenny McNair completed the Half Marathon. Congratulations to Bernie for finishing first in her category and also to Jenny for completing her first event over the distance and also raising over £1,000 for the local charity Hope Against Cancer.

Rothley

Kirstie Faust and Aileen Collins took part in the Rothley 10k. This popular local event also raises valuable funds for LOROS, and both finished the two lap course inside the one hour mark

Grasmere

Sam Pole was once again tackling the hills in his second home of the Lake District, this time in the OMM Lite Festival around Grasmere. Sam took on the long course involving 7 hours and 5 hours on consecutive days, finishing an impressive eighth overall from a field of 100+ runners. Barbara Blunt was also at the festival taking on the 10k course, and completing in just over an hour

The Harborough Festival 10k was another popular event for our members, with 8 taking part in the first event over a new course. Adam Niblett and Louise Fernand were first male and female home for the club, and amongst the other runners there was a PB for Sarah Barbour

Harborough

There have also been two races in the Leicestershire Road Running League, with the West End 8 and Swithland 6 taking place in recent weeks.

Come join us!

Club training nights have been well attended, with runners enjoying the warmer weather (occasionally!) and our lovely countryside, as well as the post run refreshments. Big thanks to Rachel for hosting a post run event and providing a very welcome feast including hot dogs, roast pork, home brewed beer and mountains of cake. All in a good cause too, with donations on the night raising over £100 for the Stroke Association
