Carol number five ‘A virgin most gentle’ in this year’s Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, broadcast worldwide annually on Radio 4 and BBC World Service from the candlelit Chapel of Kings College, Cambridge 3pm Christmas Eve, is of local interest, having been composed by Andrew Carter, a past pupil of Kibworth Beauchamp Grammar School.

This last week (beginning 6 December) whilst many lands celebrated St Nicholas’ Day on the Sunday, some Beauchamp residents may have missed a local anniversary - the installation of the yellow speed restriction signs, now looking so bent, battered and bruised, twenty weeks ago during the fourth week of July.

I am sure that I speak for a lot of people when I say a very big thank you to the unpaid volunteers who give their time and energy to make such a tremendous success of Kibworth Library. I know that, over and above their traditional library, they are missing the extra activities they organise when not so restricted by Covid-19.
