The good weather over the summer months was an added bonus as the band played to good audiences at various outdoor events. 

To celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Michael Kapur, Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire instigated the Community and Business Awards. These awards recognise the achievements of local Community groups, Schools and Businesses within the county and city. Exceptional achievements that develop a community spirit, enrich the lives of their members, pupils or employees and the wider community.

Adele Rogers, our brilliant Musical Director, has decided to step down after seven successful and amazing years leading the Foxton Community Choir. But, the Choir must go on, as it’s such an integral and important part of our Village. So, we need a Musical Director to replace her.  

We are so excited to announce the details of our 10th Anniversary concerton on Saturday 29 October. The venue will be the Church of St James the Greater, London Road, Leicester (opposite Victoria Park)

Looking back at June, we enjoyed an excellent, well-prepared talk about ‘The Life of Marilyn Monroe’ by Julie Kinnear. Affected by her unfortunate early life, Marilyn was constantly trying to improve herself. She never felt that she was beautiful, or particularly good enough. Paradoxically, when working as a model, and later in the film industry, she was constantly exploited for her looks.

Who would have imagined that Fleckney would become the new epicentre of the dramatic arts?

The trustees are pleased to announce that we finally have a treasurer to join us on the committee of KGSH. Welcome Geraldine Burns who has lived in the village for a couple of years now and is keen to become more involved in village life.  Geraldine will be co-opted as a trustee at a special meeting. We are sure that she will be a great asset to our team.  Whilst the hall is busy, we still have some slots available. Kelly, our Hall Officer, is ready to take your call on 0116 2796389, whether it is for an exercise class or some other event or function.

Our first joint production of ‘’Allo,’Allo!’ proved to be a great success with both cast and audiences alike. Performing to a full house each night, many messages of congratulations and praise came flooding in. “It was brilliant! Well done everyone!

Lambros Paphitis Junior won the Leicestershire S/B (single barrel) competition for Junior Class at Normanton shooting ground Thurlaston on Saturday 2 July.

As part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations taking place on Smeeton Road Recreation Ground on Sunday 5 June, Kibworth Tennis Club ran free fun tennis sessions for children and adults. It was a great opportunity for children and adults to try tennis, some for the first time. Over 45 children and adults joined in the sessions and all had a good time!
