Our January meeting was a fine start to the new year, with Alison Orr leading us in a session of Laughter Yoga. From the moment Alison entered the hall and began to chat and laugh with members as they arrived, we sensed that we were in for an enjoyable evening.

At our January meeting we were treated to a talk about Wildlife in Kibworth by an enthusiastic amateur who is a member of our WI. The speaker was Julie Harrison accompanied by her husband Ian. Julie spoke about the different species of birds and other animals illustrated by superb photographs taken by Ian.

As the days get longer and the temperature begins to rise, beekeepers start to look forward to the start of the next bee keeping season. Right now, our Queen bees are increasing the rate at which they lay eggs and the worker bees that emerged last autumn are rearing the young larvae to be the next generation of bees.

Our December fun began when David and Martin invited us to Kibworth Hall for an afternoon of carols. Between singing along with us, they served us Prosecco and warm mince pies and we thank them for making us so welcome in their beautiful home.

Since the Kibworth Tip closed in November 2021, contractors Willmott Dixon, working on behalf of LCC, have been busy redeveloping the site and transforming it into the new facility that we will soon be able to use. Back in June they reached out to share with us what they were doing, inviting the cubs and scouts to the site to take a look at what was going on and learn about construction methods and waste recycling plans.
