Leicester & District Ramblers

20th September 2021 | Clubs and Societies

As the country has moved progressively out of Lockdown we have more or less succeeded in reinstating our full programme of short, half day and all day walks and both existing and new members have been turning out with growing confidence. I personally recently sampled one of our Thursday morning walks; this was a shade less than 6 miles. The expectations that I had for this walk, from Ab Kettleby in this case, were all met including being well led by one of our many experienced walk leaders Paul. The bonus on this occasion was the prospect of sharing a well earnt lunch at the villages Sugar Loaf Inn with fellow walkers. A timely reminder that quite apart from the obvious health and fitness aspects that the sociability and camaraderie of Rambling remains intact! We continue to experience and indeed welcome newcomers to our ranks, many new faces have come across us via our Facebook page. Here you can find out a little more about us and find more detailed information about our walks programme.

Fleckney Village Cricket Club September 2021 update

20th September 2021 | Sport

It’s not been the finest month for Skipper Daz and his boys. But, it would be fair to say that luck hasn’t been on his side. We’ve also seen some decent bowling performances from the pack too. But the rub of the green hasn’t been forthcoming; the promotion push has become something of a mid-table forced acceptance. There are still a few more matches to be played; so a positive finish is hoped for. This is especially as some of the younger 2s are being blooded into the mix. The future is bright boys, the future is bright.
