Directing this play has been a joy. So far, we have been learning lines and creating an understanding of the plot and characters within the warmth and comfort of our home. Each taking a turn at hosting the cast and offering refreshments. Joyous? Why? You may ask. Because as of January the players will be returning to the KGSH venue. We will begin the arduous part of producing a play and creating a performance for our audiences at the end of March.

Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine has understood the power of the seasons for at least two thousand years. Our final meeting of the year was on Thursday 1st December. In the middle of the MU International No More 1 in 3 Awareness Campaign for ending all forms of the abuse against women and girls. This Campaign ran from the 25th November to 10th December. The last day coinciding with the International Day of Human Rights. During the Campaign, daily prayer vigils were said at midday. Posters were placed around the village and church raising the profile of those who are exposed to these horrors urging us all to be vigilant and speak out for those in danger. During the meeting we were able to collect £40.00 for charities combating Gender Based Violence.

During the winter months the risk of having a heart attack or stroke increases. It is important to know what the risks are and to put measures in place to ensure you and your family stay safe. A drop in environmental temperature reduces your body temperature. This means the heart must work harder to keep you warm which increases your heart rate. In addition, in cold weather, blood vessels contract to minimise heat loss, which increases blood pressure. While this is a natural process, it can be a cause for concern in those who are more vulnerable. For example adults over 65, those with long-term health conditions and those who are overweight and live less healthy lifestyles.
