We hope you all enjoyed your summer, all your donations and hard work to help GEMS Charity raise the funds to refurbish the chemotherapy treatment area at the LRI have been turned into work over the summer. So just a quick update for you all.

Since the last Kibworth & District Chronicle landed on our doorsteps we’ve made some fantastic progress with our new land by the railway line. 

The Picnic in the Park was enjoyed enormously by all who attended. The bouncy slide was enjoyed by young and old and despite it being a little chilly, at least it didn’t rain this year. The candyfloss stall was kept very busy and children’s races, dog agility and the Tug of War were great fun.

Although the weather finally picked up for the start of the school holidays, there have still not been very many boats through. The situation is similar elsewhere, and some hire companies have half their fleets tied up, which is highly unusual, and a worry. Visitors come to the canals to see boats, and boater spend is important to the local economy.

Pat recently showed me programmes from the incredible Festivals that Kibworth used to hold, the Festival of Angels and a wonderful concert of Jesus Christ Superstar in St.Wilfrid’s church.
