On Saturday 26 July the annual Boules and Buffet night was held at the home of Iain and Denise Bell. The weather was kind and 36 people enjoyed the evening. Thanks go to Iain and Denise for hosting the event, Denise, Kathy and Lynne for the lovely buffet and to Lynne and Dave for organising the teams.

Our group continues to meet every third Wednesday of the each month, at Kibworth Cricket Club, from 7.30pm. We have had some lovely sessions over the last few months, from education on nutrition to bringing out our competitive side in table top skittles. Last month we held an ‘evening tea’ and raffle. We had some wonderful cakes and prizes, all kindly donated by members and businesses in the community. The money from the evening was a marvellous £345 which is on its way to LOROS hospice.

As of 2024 there are estimated to be nearly a million folk living with dementia in the UK, projected to be 1.4 million by 2040. That equates to 7000 new diagnoses a month. It currently takes six months, after GP referral, to get a diagnosis. As many will know this is a debilitating, isolating disease, affecting not only the sufferer but the carers and family around them.
