Looking Ahead to Autumn at The Well

As the summer holidays draw to a close and we head into autumn, there is plenty happening at The Well as we look towards the months ahead.

We are delighted to announce that we have secured grant funding from Harborough District Council and The Benefact Trust towards the cost of upgrading the entrance to our café and pre-loved clothes shop. The improvements will create step-free access from the pavement, making it much easier for people with poor mobility and wheelchair users to visit us.

The new frontage will also give the building a modern appearance and improve security. The work will mean that our café and clothes shop will need to close for up to a week while the improvements are carried out. We will confirm the dates as soon as possible and advertise them on our website and social media, so please keep an eye out for updates.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported our summer raffle. We are delighted to have raised more than £2,000, which will help us continue supporting vulnerable people across Kibworth and the surrounding communities.

We are incredibly grateful to all the businesses, both local and further afield, who generously donated more than 30 prizes between them. Their support, along with everyone who bought tickets, made the raffle a tremendous success.

Our thoughts now turn to the changing season. Many farmers have finished their harvests earlier than ever this year, while the long, hot summer and drought conditions have affected yields for many. We are thankful for the hard work of our farming community and hope the coming winter doesn’t prove too challenging for them.

Throughout the summer holidays, The Well has continued providing emergency food support to families in Kibworth and the surrounding villages. The need for our food bank doesn’t disappear when the seasons change, and neither does our commitment to supporting local people. Remember, The Well is here for you all year round.

And finally, don’t forget that the annual Kibworth Proms, featuring the fantastic Kibworth Band, takes place on Saturday 19 September at the Community Hub. Tickets are available through the Kibworth Band website, with a limited number potentially available on the door, subject to availability.
