Thank you to our hard-working team of Councillors Heather Munroe, Martine Browne and Irene Ward. To our very busy Clerk, Alison Gibson. Also to our Heritage and Tree Wardens, Mark Newton and Joan Gray. Heather and Martine have decided to step down as Councillors after seven and a half and eight years respectively. We are very grateful for all the commitment and service they have given the Parish Council.

Sometimes we can be deceived by what we see, and we here at Foxton Canal Museum are a case in point!

We welcomed Oliver and Jane Wicksteed to our May meeting to talk about ‘Wicksteed Park - Past and Present’. A Grade II English Heritage listed park and garden owned by Wicksteed Charitable Trust. More than an amusement park, having extensive gardens, a lake, a nature reserve and sports facilities. Fred Perry taught there.

I am researching my family tree and I would like to ask for your help. I have read a beautiful obituary (25 June 2020) for Betty Bateman, who died 17 April 2020. I am certain she is my grandmother’s niece. I never met her but have fond memories of her mother Florence.

So, exciting news! Our next joint theatre group production is going to be ‘One Night Only’, a new musical written by our very own Ella Conway.

Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital will be holding a coffee morning and table top sale on Saturday 8 July in Kibworth Village Hall LE8 0LN from 10am to 12:45pm.

Since the Care Quality Commission Inspection (CQC) April 2022, SLMG has made many improvements to ensure that it delivers high quality services to people. The practice recognised that some patients felt their experiences were falling short of the services they deserve. Feedback has been listened to and has helped to drive forward many improvements. It is important to note that the Integrated Care Board are supporting and monitoring a (QIP) for SLMG which was developed using the findings of the inspection. The QIP is reviewed and updated regularly using a risk assessment tool to assess priority actions needed.  The CQC will arrange a visit to SLMG in the future to carry out a targeted inspection of the areas raised.

From reading their website “SLMG welcomed the Care Quality Commission (CQC) Inspection Team to the practice (exactly a year ago) on Thursday 28 April 2022. We were open and honest and value their comments and advice. The CQC regulates all health and social care services in England to ensure the quality and safety in all hospitals, GP Surgeries, Care Homes, Dentists, Community Care and Domiciliary Care Services. Due to the pandemic most CQC inspections had been postponed.

The Scout Association hold a close and historical relationship with the royal family, to which all members of the movement make a promise when joining to do their duty to the king. Few opportunities exist to fulfil that duty but this weekend scouts from Kibworth and across the Harborough district were able to just that.

When it comes to bunting you cannot beat Mowsley! Villagers made yet more bunting which decorated most of the Village, especially the centre and the village hall. This was where the celebrations of a barbeque and band on the Saturday evening and a street lunch, Coronation Cake competition and Maypole dancing on the Sunday took place. There was a monster raffle as well with the proceeds donated to charity.

It’s been a really busy but exciting month at Kibworth Mead Academy (KMA).
