On Friday 15 September, Kibworth and Fleckney Rotary Club held their annual Charity Golf Day at Kibworth Golf Club. At one o’clock the 18, 4-ball teams teed off simultaneously, a shot gun start, from all 18 tees. We were lucky with the weather and, after a fun round of golf, the teams all congregated back at the clubhouse for a buffet meal.
Fleckney Table Tennis Club is settling into its temporary home at the main hall of Kibworth Mead Academy. We were gratified to see that the team which beat us in the semi-final of the Elbow Tankard went on to win the top prize. We wish all our junior and senior League players good luck for the coming season.
The Leicestershire & Rutland Golf Union and Kibworth Golf Club are celebrating a historic triumph after being crowned English Men’s County Champions for the first time in the competition’s 99-year history.
Our season of outdoor bowls, which started in April, has gone really well this year with many enjoyable games, partly due to this glorious weather we have had.
Your local table tennis club; (all welcome – your first session free); has found a temporary home in the main hall at Kibworth Mead Academy because Fleckney Sports Centre is shortly(?) to be demolished and a fancy new building, with three times the space for table tennis, will, in due course, take its place. Our youngest player is eight and the oldest 76. We accommodate absolute beginners coaching them up to League level if they wish. From Wednesday 3 September, coaching, practice and League matches will all be held on Wednesday nights. Beginners are at 7pm and improvers at 7.45pm. Coaching continues until 8.30pm and free play till 10pm.

I’m not going to tell you about Leicester Hockey Club (based at Great Glen). I am leaving that to some of the parents of our junior players to tell you their thoughts on their children’s experience at the club.
