Mud, Mud Go Away... Foxton Children Want To Play

And though the mud could not disappear, the children did play at the opening of the newly refurbished play park at Robert Monk Village Hall on Middle Street Foxton on Saturday 30th December. Rising cleanly above the mud to be enjoyed was a new functional play tower and a bespoke inclusivity play tower for children in wheelchairs. Lots more now for children to experience along with the more traditional swings and slide.

Going Live
Crossing the ‘Tin Bridge' the electrification of the Midland Main Line from Kettering to South Wigston is getting closer to completion. Soon the installation of the sections of the pedestrian bridge will be installed - timetabled to be in March- however new signage has now appeared on the Tin Bridge warning everyone that the wires are now live.

Kibworth Community Hub

Following the Christmas lull, the Kibworth Community Hub (At the Grammar School Hall) is gearing up for the 2024. We have our usual mix of regular users, Pilates, yoga, dancing and u3a etc. We are also looking forward to Last Minute Theatre’s annual pantomime. This year, it's Dick Whittington which will be performed on 20/21 and 26/27 January with matinee and evening performances.

Gartree Super-prison

On 16 November, Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, approved the construction of England’s largest prison to house 1,700 prisoners on land adjacent to HMP Gartree.

Defibrillator Training

Juliet Burgess-Ray, from East Midlands Army Responders, gave a very helpful, hands-on defibrillator training session in Church Langton on 9 October. Local residents attended and were shown how to access the defibrillator, what equipment is inside and how to use it. The session also included using a dummy to practice CPR. All agreed it was a very useful two hours and should be offered more widely. Especially as it is applicable for all types of defibrillator.
