The Kilby Woodland Trust

The Kilby Woodland Trust, established in 2009, manages 15 acres of woodland. They raise funds by selling tree plots for new trees or adopting existing trees. They also host fundraising events and rent out garden areas. From February, two-thirds of the vacant plots are available for £32 annually.

My guess is that most readers of our wonderful ‘Kibworth & District Chronicle’, have made changes in their lifestyles because of the climate crisis we are now in. André Aranha Corrêa do Lago, Brazilian leader of COP30 UN climate summit last November in the Amazonian city of Belém said “As the age of warnings gives way to the age of consequences, humanity confronts a profound truth: climate adaptation is no longer a choice that follows mitigation; it is the first half of our survival.”

Telraam - the latest eight months figures are in!

In November 2024 the Kibworth and District Chronicle published an article stating that five out of six Telraam traffic sensors had been installed. These sensors can detect and count different types of ‘vehicles’ (including pedestrians and cyclists), the direction of travel, and approximate speed. At our first ‘Kibworth & District Heritage Society’ meeting of the year, chairman John Freeland shared some fascinating stories and photographs about his great-granduncle, Alonzo Freeland. Alonzo was one of three well-known Victorian photographers in the village, and the photos of Kibworth from the past were particularly captivating.

Kibworth Memories - Rounding the Circle

I was born in 1942 and grew up in Wigston Fields when fields ran from the end of my road, Roehampton Drive all the way to South Wigston. A bygone age about which I could reminisce at length. Suffice it to say that playing out, as a child, bore little resemblance to today’s world. My world was very limited until I passed the 11 plus and, still in short trousers, started at Kibworth Beauchamp Grammar School.
