The Well – Jan ’24

The Well, Kibworth

When writing a date recently, how many times have you put ‘23’ instead of ‘24’? Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a lovely Christmas, but we know that, sadly, not everyone did.

Our foodbank was giving out emergency food right up to the Friday before Christmas. We were also signposting people to other agencies to try and get some credit on their gas or electric meters. If you need food bank support, just call Citizens Advice on 0808 208 2138. They can issue a voucher for you to get emergency food.

Others were alone and/or suffering with poor mental health and are glad that Christmas is behind them for another year.

To help ‘put an arm round’ some of those people, we opened our cafe space for a couple of hours on Christmas morning. Those who volunteered and those that came along found it a warming experience. It was full of smiles, good cheer and chatter.

Other Support

Of course, The Well is here the rest of the year too offering a warm welcome and support to anyone that wants or needs it. You can access FREE support via The Well on a whole range of issues. These include welfare benefits, debt and budgeting, housing, health and wellbeing, mental health and legal matters, to name a few.

Check our website for details of the drop-ins that we hold and the other agencies and charities that we work with: www.thewellkibworth.org/activities

In the run-up to Christmas, around 50 toys were dropped off to us to send on to Toys on the Table in Leicester. Your generosity made sure that children that might not otherwise receive a gift, had something to open on Christmas morning – thank you.
