The Well at Christmas

As you’re reading this, I’m sure that many of you will be in full-on countdown to Christmas mode!

We were pleased to welcome lots of people in during the Kibworth Christmas event on the evening of Wednesday 6 December which, despite the cold, was very well attended this year. Thank you to the Kibworth Beaucham Parish Council for organising it.  And thanks also to everyone that came to see us to enjoy a complimentary mince pie and hot chocolate and warm up! Our supporter, Sophie, ran a raffle and had collected loads of great prizes from local businesses, raising over £250 for our food bank which will help to support local, vulnerable people this Christmas time. Excellent work!

Another of our top supporters is Iris. She held a craft sale in our café of her handmade items on Saturday 18 November. She’d made beautiful coasters, jewellery and Christmas tree decorations, which are all unique.  Her efforts raised over £300 for the food bank! Amazing.

Our volunteers are working hard in the food bank to make sure that people in our communities experiencing food poverty (and there’s probably more than you might imagine) have enough to eat over the festive period.

Thanks also to the Kibworth Ladies Choir who put on an amazing performance at St Wilfrid’s church on Saturday 25 November and had chosen The Well as one of their chosen charities to support.

We’d like to offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone that has supported The Well and the work that we do whether by donating food, money or time, or using the café and pre-loved clothes shop. We feel blessed to receive all the help that we do, and we are proud to be at the heart of the community and known as a place where everyone one is welcome.

As we approach the end of 2023, with thoughts of what has been and is yet to come, don’t forget to take a moment to pause and reflect a while.

For some, the festive season is a difficult period. There are also those that are on their own or separated from family and friends.  The Well will be open on Christmas morning between 10 and 12 offering complimentary bacon baps, mince pies and hot drinks to anyone that would like to come along and enjoy some friendly chat in relaxed surroundings.  Everyone is welcome.
